As of time of writing, WordPress is by far and away the most popular CMS (Content Management System) in terms of usage. As well as allowing rapid development and fast turnaround times, this is also partly because it is:
- free to use
- built using PHP (a free-to-use language)
- supported by the widest range of plugins, themes and extensions (mostly free)
- easy to manage day-to-day without paying a web guy like Brett to do it (effectively free)
- frequently updated making it robust and secure (the updates cost… no wait, they’re free too)

There are systems even simpler than WordPress to begin using that are marketed at startups and individuals looking to build their own websites. However, these still all take time to learn, and can be fiddled about with endlessly before you realise months have passed and your website still isn’t on the internet. How much has that cost you?
