Essential Flowers is a new and innovative floristry based in Rickmansworth. Specialising in modern flower arrangements, they wanted a web site that reflected their ethos and presented their impressive portfolio to the best effect. Control B took the brief - no fuss, close-ups of flowers, black background - and ran with it.

We kept it clean and classy with simple square thumbnail images as a theme for navigation. Knowing that too many pop-ups are annoying, we opted instead for a single image window in which all the images open without cluttering the screen - and frankly wondered why everybody didn’t do it that way.

Detailed order forms were produced as requested which included being able to choose colour schemes. These have proved popular with visitors, especially repeat customers who prefer to do everything online.

However, the one feature of the site that has attracted more than its share of complements is the homepage. Visitors are provided with enough content and navigation to draw them deeper into the site, but they are bowled over by the composition based around a close-up of a single lily. If floristry is a visual art form that conveys natural beauty, then this homepage practically embodies that ideal.
